Encore! Theater Group
We feel that participating in the arts nourishes the soul! It’s about more than just acting, singing, or dancing! At Encore, theater helps women and men and girls and boys become equal; the disabled become able; the shy experiment with bravery; and even the gifted become part of the whole. The lesson we teach and learn is that all of them are necessary for the show to go on. After all, " The world is a stage!’
Because Everyone Deserves an Encore!
Our theme for this season focuses on mental health from various perspectives.
*Stay tuned for ticketing as we navigate through another year of Covid-19. Our number one priority is to keep our team, cast, crew, and patrons safe.*
I Don't Wanna Talk About It
Drama ~ Comedy / Being a teenager is hard, and nobody wants to talk about it. Confronting the daily challenges of growing up, this series of monologues and scenes offers a look at a multitude of issues -- including dealing with parents who just don't get it, rumors, bullying, and suicide. By turns funny and tragic, the gritty details of adolescence surface -- exposing the things teenagers can't, won't, and don't want to talk about.
By the Sea
By the Sea is a New Musical written and composed by our founder Effrem Thomas Grettenberger. The story sets in modern day times and follows a young Black man on his journey with mental health and all the surrounding forces around him pushing him in one direction or the other.
Don't Mind Me
Don’t Mind Me is an original production by EncoreSTL that involves real mental health stories from members of the St. Louis community that will be dramatized on the Stage. Our goals are to bring these stories to light and interweave them to depict the variety of mental health issues that exist. By acting out these stories we aim to
create an emphatic bridge between the audience and the actors
get unstuck on preexisting ideas regarding mental health
and decrease the sense of isolation, providing role models and instilling hope.
